The First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine, together with its attached and neighboring units, has repelled another mechanized assault by Russian occupation forces in the Dobropillia sector.
Early on December 22, the enemy advanced from their initial positions toward the First Corps’ defensive area. The attack involved several mechanized columns consisting of tanks, IFVs, and APCs. Russian Naval Infantry units attempted to penetrate the battle formations of the Defense Forces of Ukraine using various routes.
A wide range of firepower was employed against the enemy forces, including strike drones, field artillery, MLRS systems, and small arms. Engineering units also contributed to the destruction of the enemy columns by means of explosive obstacles installed along the Russian Armed Forces’ avenues of advance.
The repelled mechanized assault cost the occupiers 6 tanks, 9 IFVs, 5 APCs, and 1 armored recovery vehicle. The final wave of the Russian assault included quadricycles: 10 out of 11 were destroyed, while the remaining one managed to escape the battlefield.
We thank every unit operating in the First Corps’ area of defense for their contribution to thwarting the enemy’s massive attack — especially the Lasar’s Group Special Forces Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine and the Unmanned Systems Forces. The elimination of enemy personnel involved in the assault is still ongoing.
